The AJS 7R, affectionately known as the "Boy Racer," is a legendary British motorcycle that epitomises the golden era of post-war racing. Introduced in 1948 by AJS, a marque with deep roots in competitive motorcycling, the 7R was designed as a production racing machine. Its 348cc single-cylinder engine, delivering around 32 horsepower, was capable of pushing the lightweight bike to speeds exceeding 110mph. The 7R's reputation was built on its balance of power and agility, making it a formidable competitor on the track. It was a favourite among privateers due to its reliability, ease of maintenance, and the availability of parts. The AJS 7R won numerous national and international races, including prestigious events including the Isle of Man TT. Today, the 7R is celebrated for its pure racing pedigree, representing a time when simplicity and performance ruled the world of motorcycle racing.
