"Ducati 748 SP" (1995)
The Ducati 748SP is the high-performance variant of the
748, a motorcycle that brought superbike performance to the middleweight
class. Introduced in the mid-1990s, the 748SP was equipped with a 748cc
L-twin engine that produced around 97bhp, delivering
exhilarating acceleration and a top speed close to 150mph. The SP
(Sport Production) version was designed for the racetrack, featuring a
closer-ratio gearbox, lighter components, and a higher rev limit than
the standard 748, making it ideal for aggressive riding. The 748SP
shared much of its design with the iconic 916, including the stunning
bodywork, underseat exhaust, and single-sided swing-arm, but in a more
agile and accessible package. The bike's handling was superb, thanks to
high-quality suspension components from Showa and Öhlins, and its
braking performance was enhanced by Brembo calipers. The Ducati 748SP
remains a favourite among enthusiasts who appreciate its combination of
stunning looks, razor-sharp handling, and the thrilling experience of
Ducati's L-twin engine.
