This colourful painting shows the legendary 900SS on which Mike Hailwood famously won the Formula 1 TT in 1978. After an 11-year
hiatus, legendary racer Mike Hailwood returned to the Isle of Man TT and
won the Formula 1 TT on this Ducati 900SS, a feat that cemented both his
legacy and that of Ducati in racing folklore. The 900SS used by Hailwood
was powered by an 864cc L-twin engine, producing around 80bhp,
and it was known for its robust power delivery and reliability, crucial
traits for the gruelling TT course. Later, Ducati commemorated Hailwood's
victory by producing a limited edition "Mike Hailwood Replica" of the
900SS, featuring the same red, white, and green livery as Hailwood's
race bike.
