Artwork detail

[art #446]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.

The 1931 Norton International was a landmark motorcycle, representing the pinnacle of British engineering and craftsmanship during the early 20th century. Often referred to as the "Inter" this model was derived from Norton's successful racing machines and was available in both 350cc and 500cc versions. The International was powered by an overhead-cam single-cylinder engine, that was pretty advanced for its time, delivering a smooth and reliable power output. This engine was capable of producing around 30bhp, which gave the bike a top speed of approximately 90mph, a remarkable achievement in the 1930s. The International was also notable for its handling, thanks to the well-engineered frame and suspension, making it a favourite among racers and enthusiasts alike. The bike's classic design, with its exposed engine, wire-spoke wheels, and polished metal finishes, exuded the elegance and precision that Norton was known for. The 1931 Norton International is a true classic, embodying the spirit of the golden age of British motorcycling as well as the company's rich racing heritage.
