[art #383]. Limited Edition Print by Steve Dunn.

The 1967 Velocette Thruxton Venom is a motorcycle that represents the pinnacle of British single-cylinder engineering. Built as a high-performance version of the already respected Venom, the Thruxton was designed with racing in mind, becoming an icon in the cafe racer culture. Powered by a 499cc single-cylinder engine, the Thruxton Venom produced around 40bhp, which, combined with its light weight, enabled it to reach speeds of over 110 mph. The bike was equipped with a larger Amal carburettor, high-compression piston, and a race-tuned exhaust, making it one of the fastest production singles of its time. The Thruxton's handling was precise and responsive, thanks to its well-designed frame, improved suspension, and rearset footpegs that gave riders a more aggressive riding position. Its styling was quintessentially British, with a narrow fuel tank, clip-on handlebars, and minimalist bodywork that emphasised its sporting intent. The 1967 Velocette Thruxton Venom remains a highly sought-after classic, revered for its performance, craftsmanship, and its enduring legacy in the world of motorcycle racing.
