The Yamaha TZ350, introduced in 1973, was a game-changing motorcycle in the world of privateer racing. Built as a racer, the TZ350 offered serious two-stroke performance at an affordable price, making it accessible to riders who wanted to compete at a high level. Powered by a liquid-cooled, 347cc parallel-twin engine, the TZ350 delivered around 65bhp, with a top speed of over 140mph, providing exhilarating acceleration and race-winning potential.

The bike featured a tubular steel frame, lightweight construction, and a front disc brake, giving it sharp handling and stopping power on the track. Its design was rooted in Yamaha's experience in Grand Prix racing, particularly in the 250cc class, and it inherited much of the performance pedigree of its predecessors. Riders loved its versatility and ease of maintenance, allowing them to focus on racing without constant mechanical issues.

With its high-revving two-stroke engine, nimble chassis, and competitive pricing, the Yamaha TZ350 became the go-to machine for countless racers during the 1970s and early 1980s. It dominated the 350cc class and helped launch the careers of many legendary riders including Johnny Cecotto, Kel Carruthers, Pat Hennen, and John Newbold, helping to propel their careers to stardom and made the TZ350 one of the most iconic race bikes of all time.
